Lilivale Stud is owned by Jennie and Stewart Barr and was born from their love of horses.  The Barr family have been heavily involved with horses through the disciplines of eventing and endurance riding, and always held an interest in racing, prompting them to finally become involved in breeding their own thoroughbreds. 

Racehorses - Thoroughbreds

Most of the competition horses in the family have been ex-racehorses and this gave the family a great love for thoroughbreds.  The stud now owns three quality thoroughbred broodmares, with the vision of expanding up to a larger herd of thoroughbred mares, with quality being the aim, not quantity.  Lilivale currently have a two year old filly with trainer Robert Heathcote in Brisbane.  Lilivale also had another two year old filly in pretraining with Kevin Thomas and his team at Washpool Lodge.  This is our first crop of thoroughbreds, born in 2008.

Performance Horses - Warmbloods

The name Lilivale came about as a result of the first horse bred by the Barrs.  ‘Lili’ is a warmblood mare by Falkrich out of a Winterkoenig mare, PS Wandering Lady.  Lili is now 4 years old and just had her first foal. As well as Lili, the stud also has 2 other warmblood mares.

Lilivale sold one of their homebred warmbloods in June 2011 to the Queensland Mounted Police.  "Ricky" was born in 2008 and is by the Holsteiner stallion Falkrich out of Lilivale's Hannoverian warmblood mare, PS Wandering Lady, who is by Winterkoenig.  Ricky settled in well with the Queensland Mounted Police and will receive extensive police horse training.  When it comes time for Ricky to retire, he will come back to Lilivale to live out his retirement.  Ricky is the first homebred warmblood to be offered for sale by Lilivale, and was quickly snapped up by the Mounted Police due to his large size and presence and fabulous temperament.  Lilivale are currently offering two young warmbloods for sale, both foaled in 2010.
